Ka Cirque du Soleil Show in Las Vegas

I have been to Las Vegas a handful of times, yet have never seen a show of any kind. Nope. Not even a freebie cabaret singer, Cirque du Soleil or anything that remotely resembled the Thunder from Down Under. So unfortunate.

This time I wasn’t leaving Sin City until I saw a show. It would be sinful.

Ka: The Best Cirque du Soleil Show in Las Vegas

My preference would be Cirque du Soleil, but any fancy-schmancy, over-the-top one will do.

Even though I scoped out numerous websites to pre-purchase tickets, there were way to many glowing reviews for Tix4Tonight. I am usually an over-planner, but this company claimed to be selling “day of the show” tickets for half the price.

Before my necessity over-plan, I am chep.

Tix4Tonight has several locations, but we selected the closest one to our hotel at Mandalay. The box office opens at 9:30 every morning and, from everything I read, there will be a long line by 9. I had thought about pitching a tent and camping out like I was waiting for Justin Beiber tickets, but since this was a weekday, we settled for grabbing an early morning Starbucks and hitting the line at 8:45. We were only a dozen people deep, this definitely wasn’t a J-Beebs show.

While we waited, the shows available continuously scrolled through the monitor. There were a couple dozen to choose from, but my first choice of Cirque du Soleil Beatles Love was not playing that day. Darn. But, Cirque du Soleil Ka was. Score. Even though there were higher priced tickets, the service girl suggested the front balcony, claiming that so much happens in the air that we wouldn’t be disappointed. 99 bucks each. Was it a 50% savings? No. Was it a pretty darn good discount? Yes.

Arriving at the theater, our Cirque du Soleil seats were right under this sidelines set. Even before the “real” show started, characters were swinging, hanging and soaring through the air.

The next 90 minutes was a spectacular show filled with amazing sets, creative costumes, and jaw-dropping acrobats.

The largest sandbox rotates as these whimsical creatures keep popping up from beneath the sand.

After seeing Cirque du Soleil Ka, I can finally cross “See a Vegas show” off my Bucket List. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to do it again. Maybe Thunder Down Under next time. Do you think they do acrobats?

Have you ever seen Cirque du Soleil?
