This is great to hear! Breaking down your goals is definitely a great way to make them more manageable. And I love that you are including the family in your goals :)

The tip to start today is a good one as it provides the spark for brainstorming and ideas. My wife and I just had a baby in June and we were planning on putting our travels on hold. With research, shortly I found that wait a second, I don’t have to put travel on hold but to just adapt and go places and have suitable family adventures. We have broken down the goals into steps and currently exploring 2-3 trips by the end of the year! My own wishlist is still there, as some of those are not realistic, I am making new list! Have a good week!

It’s important to set realistic goals, but it doesn’t hurt to have a few long-term goals which you can work on bit by bit,
Thanks for sharing this article, i’ll be sure to keep these tips in mind.

That’s an interesting tactic. Thanks for sharing. Would you then schedule the ‘break down’ across the comings weeks or months – the bigger the goal, the more you’d plan out the smaller tasks that you need to execute on?

I have a rule to do one thing towards my goals every day, so I will typically break large goals into small ones that are feasible to achieve in a few minutes to an hour. This is typically done on an Excel spreadsheet so I can keep track of how far I have come!

I agree with Nitin too, I’ve found accountability to be so important. If you do anything in life, you have to find some way of keeping yourself accountable: it’s critical to sustaining motivation and hitting goals. We’re only human, it’s only natural to lose steam along the way.

Too much planning can prevent taking action, but breaking down tasks as you say is a really effective way of turning something, seemingly too-big-to-tackle, into an achievable target. How do you find it best to break topics down Anette?

Thanks,
Sam
